"Tidal Dream" by Alec Delphenich (2003) She loves to sleep Loves to dream What she sees in her mind Will she make it out in time Surfing, flying, whatever she wants From side to side As high as high She goes along with the tide What's right or wrong What's gone what's on What was lost was tossed In this tidal dream Flipping light switches on Makes no difference to me What sights unseen What does it mean No words to say Only the crashing waves Throwing sand in the air It all went where- fell through together Was there something I missed that time I hate when I miss your eyes She's twirling as she cries Stepping right outside the lines Under the water we go No one stops to notice why Staring at the sky from the bottom of the waves Wouldn't say it looks the same from the other side Free floating she carries me away Out of this shape, response unchanged To wake up now would not be right If I could just stay behind I don't want to wake up From this tidal dream Just let me sleep
